These are the meaning and what gospel is all about. The joyous good news of salvation in Jesus Christ. The Greek word translated as gospel means “a reward for bringing good news” or simply “good news.” In Isa 40:9, the prophet proclaimed the “good tidings” that God would rescue His people from captivity.
A word of Anglo-Saxon origin, and meaning “God’s spell”, i.e., word of God, or rather, according to others, “good spell”, i.e., good news. It is the rendering of the Greek evangel ion, i.e., “good message.” It denotes.
The gospel is not a new plan of salvation; it is the fulfillment of God’s plan of salvation which was begun in Israel, was completed in Jesus Christ, and is made known by the church. The gospel is the saving work of God in His Son Jesus Christ and a call to faith in Him (Rom 1:16-17). Jesus is more than a messenger of the gospel; He is the gospel.
A gospel is more than a biography intended to provide information about a historical character. It is the presentation of the life of Jesus to show His saving significance for all people and to call them to faith in Him.
- “The welcome intelligence of salvation to man as preached by our Lord and his followers. The term is often used to express collectively the gospel doctrines; and ‘preaching the gospel’ is often used to include not only the proclaiming of the good tidings, but the teaching men how to avail themselves of the offer of salvation, the declaring of all the truths, precepts, promises, and threatening’s of Christianity.
- ” It is termed “the gospel of the grace of God” (Acts 20:24),
- “the gospel of the kingdom” (Matt 4:23),
- “the gospel of Christ” (Rom 1:16),
- “the gospel of peace (Eph 6:15),
- “the glorious gospel,”

Music is a combination of sounds that are pleasant to the ear. Vocal or instrumental sounds with rhythm, melody, and harmony. Music was part of everyday life for the ancient Hebrew people. Music was a part of family merrymaking, such as the homecoming party for the prodigal son (Luke 15:25). Music welcomed heroes and celebrated victories. Miriam and other women sang, danced, and played timbrels when the Israelites miraculously escaped the Egyptians (Ex 15:20), and the Song of Moses in Ex 15 is the earliest recorded song in the Bible. Jephthah’s daughter greeted him with timbrels to celebrate his victory over the Ammonites (Judg 11:34). David’s triumph brought music (1 Sam 18:6).
Music was used in making war and crowning kings (Judg 7:18-20; 1 Kings 1:39-40; 2 Chron 20:28). Wartime music-making was apparently little more than making noise, as in the fall of Jericho (Josh 6). There was music for banquets and feasts (Isa 5:12; 24:8-9) and royal courts and harems (Eccl 2:8). The Bible gives examples of occupational songs (Jer 31:4-5), dirges and laments (Matt 9:23), The Jews were apparently a very musical people. The Assyrian king, Sennacherib, demanded as tribute from King Hezekiah of Judah male and female Judean musicians-a most unusual ransom. Ps 137 relates that the Babylonians demanded “songs of Zion” from the Israelites while they were in captivity (v. 3). During the period between the testaments, Strabo, a Greek geographer, called the female singers of Palestine the most musical in the world.
Music in the Old Testament. The Bible indicates that Jubal was “the father of all those who play the harp and flute” (Gen 4:21). But professional musicians do not appear in the Bible before David’s time. Even before professional musicians became the norm during David’s reign, the concept of court musicians did exist. The young David was called to soothe Saul with music (1 Sam 16:16-23). In this sense David was a minstrel (2 Kings 3:15) – a player of stringed instruments. The New Testament minstrels (Matt 9:23) were flute-players employed as professional mourners.
Entertainment is a form of activity that holds the attention and interest of an audience, or gives pleasure and delight. Entertainment is any activity which provides a diversion or permits people to amuse themselves in their leisure time, and may also provide fun, enjoyment and laughter.
It can be an idea or a task, but is more likely to be one of the activities or events that have developed for many years specifically for the purpose of keeping an audience’s attention, although people’s attention is held by different things, because individuals have different preferences in entertainment.
The experience of being entertained has come to be strongly associated with amusement, so that one common understanding of the idea is fun and laughter. An important aspect of entertainment is the audience, which turns a private recreation or leisure activity into entertainment.
- Amusementis the state of experiencing humorous and entertaining events or situations, and is associated with enjoyment, happiness, laughter and pleasure.
- Funis the enjoyment of pleasure, particularly in leisure Fun is an experience — short-term, often unexpected, informal, not cerebral and generally purposeless. It is an enjoyable distraction, diverting the mind and body from any serious task or contributing an extra dimension to it. Although particularly associated with recreation and play, fun may be encountered during work, social functions, and even seemingly mundane activities of daily living.
“USING YOUR SONGS TO WIN SOULS FOR GOD NOT TO ENTERTAIN”
Haven looking at these definitions we can see that there is no room for us to entertain as our name implies as Gospel musician, we are the preacher of the word of God through music and the main purpose of the gospel is the coming of Christ, His death, His resurrection and His coming back the second time, and this is not to entertain but to inform.
Our songs are to conveying information to the people, which information? Information of the love of God, His righteousness, His faithfulness, His justice, His holiness, His wondrous did, His power, His Glory, His splendor, His majesty, and His ability to do all things, it is necessary for our songs to speak and communicate the word of God to people. Our songs are not for entertainment but for communication, even though entertainment is a basic part of music, entertainment is a natural part of music, you cannot remove entertainment from music, as I said in my definition that music is the combination of sound that are pleasant to the ear, the word pleasant is actually what entertainment is.
In the Christian world the entertainment aspect is no longer focus on YOU the performer of the music but it now becomes the combination of sound that are pleasant to God, because He is your first audience. God is your first audience, because He is the one that we seek to please, so the totality of our music should be pleasing to him “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer”. Ps 19:14 NIV also see Ps 104:34, Heb 13:21
We are not given the ministry of entertaining but we are given the ministry of soul winning because we preach the gospel through our music, the music is the energy and is the gift given to the musician to carry the message of peace, joy, healing, deliverance, hope and salvation to the world, Jesus said “Go yee into the world and preach the gospel” matt 28:19, Jesus did not said Go yee into the world and entertain them but to preach the gospel , the fastest way of winning a soul into the kingdom of God is through music , its goes farther than what you can expect.
